The number of visitors has increased with 25% in comparison to the first edition of HortEx Vietnam in 2018 and confirms the growing interest from growers and other industry professionals to obtain market information, find new suppliers and learn about new technologies equipment.

Nearly 200 exhibitors from 28 countries showcased their products and latest novelties.

HortEx Vietnam attracts leading players in horticulture and floriculture and offers visitors a very diverse range of products within the horticulture and floriculture sector.

Extensive side program:

One of the key success factors of HortEx Vietnam is the extensive side program, which is being organised during the exhibition.

The aim of the organisers is to develop HortEx Vietnam into a comprehensive platform for the entire horticulture and floriculture sector for Vietnam and neighbouring countries, an extensive side program and knowledge exchange is a crucial element within such a platform.

During this years’ edition the exhibition hosted a dedicated Export Forum, which included a Fruit, Flower Vegetable Export Promotion. During these forums B2B matching was done between some 200 Vietnamese growers and key buyer groups from China and Singapore.

In addition a special session was devoted to export opportunities between Vietnam and the European Union. Topics included; Overview of the European market for fruits & vegetables (facts, trends, forecasts), Market access requirements for sustainable business in Europe and Successful export promotion and branding.

Another highlight of the side program was being organized on the last day of exhibition by The Netherland Embassy in Vietnam in close co-operation with Wageningen university and research, the Post Harvest Network and VinaFruit. The focus of the seminar program was Opportunities of Circular Agro-Food Value Chains: Boosting the transition!

At the Seminar, the Netherlands and Vietnamese experts focused not only on reducing food losses and waster that occurs along the value chain from farm to the final consumer but rather shared their experience, knowledge and technology in turning these food losses and waste into opportunities to improve the supply chain and in the end, to get the best value for their money.

Vietnamese horticulture and floriculture offering tremendous opportunities:

As far as the Vietnamese are concerned, the country will become the vegetable growing heart of Southeast Asia and according to Mr. Willem Schoustra, Agricultural Counsellor of the Netherlands Embassy in Vietnam has Vietnam has the ambition to become a regional and global player in agriculture and horticulture.

Also Willem Schoustra states that: While the covered cultivation of vegetables develops, the flower growers follow closely.
As the consumer has more to spend, the flower industry is growing as well.

A significant milestone for the Vietnamese vegetables and fruits industry has been witnessed in the 2018 year when its export turnover reached a record high of USD 3.809 billion, up 8.8% compared to 2017. A further increase is expected for the coming years.

Vietnam with a population of some 95 million people an average GDP growth of 7.5% per year is the fastest growing economy in the ASEAN region (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) and will remain a very high potential market in the years to come as the horticulture and floriculture sector is expected to develop into a mature and technical industry.

The next edition of HortEx Vietnam is scheduled for 26-28 February 2020 and will once again take place at the Saigon Exhibition & Convention Center (SECC) in Ho Chi Minh City.

CMF to introduce new Greenpush Plastic multispan greenhouse at HortEx Vietnam 2019!

During the upcoming edition of HortEx Vietnam, which will be held from 13-15 March at the Saigon Exhibition & Convention Center (SECC) in Ho Chi Minh City, the French company CMF Groupe will present its new Greenpush Plastic multispan greenhouse.

More volume, increased light, a higher load support and a better resistance for enhanced performance. In a nutshell, that’s what the new Greenpush Plastic multispan greenhouses provide. “The new design of the tubes and posts makes the difference”, Corenthin (Felix) Chassouant of CMF Groupe Asia-Pacific explains.

Boosting up the crop – that’s what is most important to the team of CMF Groupe and that’s exactly what they offer with their new GreenPush greenhouse, which will be shown at HortEx Vietnam 2019!

Ovalized tube

“An important feature of the GreenPush design is our ovalized tube”, Corenthin (Felix) Chassouant shows. He’s been working with the CMF Asia-Pacific subsidiaryfor several years currently based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The company offers the benefits and training of each design for specific crops and specific circumstances providing a strong support and assistance in Vietnam.

“We expect a lot of the new tube, since it’s applicable broadly. Whereas the tubes before have not been bigger than 90x50mm, we can offer our TO105 tube. This one goes up to 105×60 mm, meaning the loading potential grows and therefore the posts’ resistance as well.” In addition, the range consists of 120×60 mm posts and new, stronger attachments and brackets. “The steel is being used optimally and the assembly can be done quicker.”

“It all comes down to one thing: increasing the resistance of the basic steel structure. The permitted load compared to market references with the same geometry is 60% higher. Therefore applicable horizontal cross loads at an equivalent strain are much higher, giving us the possibility to create larger widths.”

The larger widths & higher volume gives a better humidity and temperature control within the greenhouse, whereas the amount of shadow is significantly lower thanks to the larger distance between posts. “This goes up to a 10% reduction in shadows, our research shows.” Corenthin (Felix) Chassouant says, “The Greenpush is a real advantage, more particularly under tropical climate with extreme temperature and humidity”.

Higher heights

Then there’s the possible higher height under the gutter and under peak. “These are bigger as well: with a 16 meter width we can go to a 5 meter distance between posts, and a 7 meter height below the gutter. Thanks to the up-scaling it is possible to grow with new cultivation methods as suspended, vertical and multistage crops.”

The GreenPush was awarded an award in January on the Sival exhibition already, with a Sival D’Argent. Since then the attention has been growing, with a remarkable enthusiasm from companies working in pretty harsh circumstances as the tropics, but also with severe winters or strong winds. “It’s the strength of the construction, making the greenhouse interesting for growers working in difficult conditions. They’re not alone though: even when the climate is not that extreme, bettering the climate control within the greenhouse is an important topic too and with the GreenPush design we can help growers achieve this. With the GreenPush we can offer an increased productivity for the same investment. And that’s what it’s all about.”

Please be sure to visit CMF Groupe at HortEx Vietnam 2019!

Vietnam earned 1.62 billion USD from exporting fruits and vegetables in the first five months of 2018, a year-on-year rise of 16.54 percent.

In May alone, the country grossed 303.1 million USD from selling fruits and vegetables abroad, up 10 percent against the same month last year, according to Vietnam Customs.

Fruit-vegetable was the second biggest foreign currency earner in the agricultural sector, after aquatic products.

Vietnamese fruits and vegetables have been sold across 60 countries and territories, including four main markets namely China, the US, Japan and the Republic of Korea.

In January-April, fruit-vegetable exports to most markets registered growth with China importing nearly 989 million USD worth of products, a year-on-year increase of 30.3 percent and 75 percent of fruit-vegetable export turnover.
