CMF to introduce new Greenpush Plastic multispan greenhouse at HortEx Vietnam 2019!

During the upcoming edition of HortEx Vietnam, which will be held from 13-15 March at the Saigon Exhibition & Convention Center (SECC) in Ho Chi Minh City, the French company CMF Groupe will present its new Greenpush Plastic multispan greenhouse.

More volume, increased light, a higher load support and a better resistance for enhanced performance. In a nutshell, that’s what the new Greenpush Plastic multispan greenhouses provide. “The new design of the tubes and posts makes the difference”, Corenthin (Felix) Chassouant of CMF Groupe Asia-Pacific explains.

Boosting up the crop – that’s what is most important to the team of CMF Groupe and that’s exactly what they offer with their new GreenPush greenhouse, which will be shown at HortEx Vietnam 2019!

Ovalized tube

“An important feature of the GreenPush design is our ovalized tube”, Corenthin (Felix) Chassouant shows. He’s been working with the CMF Asia-Pacific subsidiaryfor several years currently based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The company offers the benefits and training of each design for specific crops and specific circumstances providing a strong support and assistance in Vietnam.

“We expect a lot of the new tube, since it’s applicable broadly. Whereas the tubes before have not been bigger than 90x50mm, we can offer our TO105 tube. This one goes up to 105×60 mm, meaning the loading potential grows and therefore the posts’ resistance as well.” In addition, the range consists of 120×60 mm posts and new, stronger attachments and brackets. “The steel is being used optimally and the assembly can be done quicker.”

“It all comes down to one thing: increasing the resistance of the basic steel structure. The permitted load compared to market references with the same geometry is 60% higher. Therefore applicable horizontal cross loads at an equivalent strain are much higher, giving us the possibility to create larger widths.”

The larger widths & higher volume gives a better humidity and temperature control within the greenhouse, whereas the amount of shadow is significantly lower thanks to the larger distance between posts. “This goes up to a 10% reduction in shadows, our research shows.” Corenthin (Felix) Chassouant says, “The Greenpush is a real advantage, more particularly under tropical climate with extreme temperature and humidity”.

Higher heights

Then there’s the possible higher height under the gutter and under peak. “These are bigger as well: with a 16 meter width we can go to a 5 meter distance between posts, and a 7 meter height below the gutter. Thanks to the up-scaling it is possible to grow with new cultivation methods as suspended, vertical and multistage crops.”

The GreenPush was awarded an award in January on the Sival exhibition already, with a Sival D’Argent. Since then the attention has been growing, with a remarkable enthusiasm from companies working in pretty harsh circumstances as the tropics, but also with severe winters or strong winds. “It’s the strength of the construction, making the greenhouse interesting for growers working in difficult conditions. They’re not alone though: even when the climate is not that extreme, bettering the climate control within the greenhouse is an important topic too and with the GreenPush design we can help growers achieve this. With the GreenPush we can offer an increased productivity for the same investment. And that’s what it’s all about.”

Arie Veldhuizen, Dutch agricultural counsellor to the Netherlands in Vietnam

“Knowledge and awareness key to Vietnamese growth”

The Vietnamese horticulture industry is upscaling. Better flower and vegetable varieties are being developed and field production is gradually moving towards protected cultivation. The Government has even announced a VND100 trillion (US$4.4 billion) package for developing hi-tech agriculture. It is an unprecedented advantage, but without skilled human resources the sector cannot take full advantage of it. Thus, the demand for knowledge exchange is present and they are therefore looking forward to the upcoming HortEX, that will be held in Vietnam’s capital Ho Chi Minh City next week. This is explained by Mr. Arie Veldhuizen, the Dutch agricultural counsellor to the Netherlands in Vietnam.

Flower and vegetables cultivation
In hectares, the production of fruit and vegetables ranks highest (908.000ha), followed by ornamental crops (34,978 ha), floriculture (22,671.9 ha) and trees and bonsai (12,306.2). When looking at the protected cultivation, Vietnam has many greenhouse productions concentrated around the area of Da Lat, in the Lam DOng Province. In 2017, the cultivation in greenhouses on the highlands in and around Da Lat covered an acreage 3,791 hectares. Flowers are the major crops, but also greenhouse vegetables are being grown. Growers are using low to medium tech plastic greenhouses, and the level of cultivation varies from very simple to medium advanced.

Emerging market
Vietnam, with a population of some 92 million people, is an emerging market and the country‘s exports of Fruits & Vegetables have enjoyed strong growth in the past years, with an average rate of 26.5 per cent a year; from $439 million in 2009 to $3,5 billion in 2017. Furthermore Vietnam has the potential to become one of the world’s largest flower exporters. The sector is expected to show further growth due to strong exports and a strong domestic demand. The Free Trade Agreement between the EU and Vietnam, which will go into effect as of next year, will give an additional boost to the sector.

Upscaling the industry
According to Veldhuizen, the development of technology-based agriculture is essential for agriculture sector of Vietnam to achieve greater value-added for export products, global competitiveness and consistently high quality.

Over the last years, the industry in Vietnam has been and is still being up-scaled.   “The Vietnamese horticulture industry is gradually taking steps moving from traditional open field production to protected cultivation, applying greenhouse technology, precision and automatic irrigation, computerized crop management system. Additionally, better flower and vegetables varieties are being developed by applying hybrid technology as well as post-harvest technology”, says Veldhuizen.

In order to boost skip “the” hi-tech agriculture, the Government even announced a VND100 trillion (US$4.4 billion) package. It is an unprecedented advantage, but the sector will not take full advantage of it without the awareness skilled human resources – in management, in science and technology, and in production.

Awareness and knowledge
The industry develops every year, but there is much more to gain, particularly in the field of chain management. Veldhuizen mentions that much can be improved in post-harvest treatment and cold storage. “Growers can cultivate beautiful flowers, but immediately after the harvesting, the flowers are put in a box and loaded on a truck without any treatment or cold storage. So, at the destination, these flowers are damaged and the shelf life is affected dramatically. And this counts for many products in horti- and agriculture. In order to make a change, access to finance, awareness, knowledge exchange and cooperation not only between farmers but through the whole chain is needed.”

All in all, the human factor, is extremely important in the entire horticultural and agricultural chain and fortunately, according to Veldhuizen, the awareness of improving the chain by starting to cooperate and exchange knowledge with other growers is arising. “The demand for knowledge implementation is present and with Dutch expertise we can support the further growth of the Vietnamese horticultural sector in the years  to come.”

HortEx
From March 14-16, the first edition of the HortEx Vietnam, organized by Nova Exhibitions, will be held in Ho Chi Minh City and according to Veldhuizen, will open doors not only for the Vietnamese grower, but for the Dutch horticultural suppliers as well. “This is the first specialized exhibition and conference for Horticultural and Floricultural Production and Processing Technology in Vietnam. It connects Vietnamese growers with experts from The Netherlands and all over the world, to introduce the new technology, plant materials and products to contribute to high tech agriculture development of the region, especially Vietnam.”

Currently HortEx is host to exhibitors from 19 countries including Belgium, China, Ecuador, France, Germany, India, Israel, Italy, Kenya, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey U.S.A. and Vietnam. In total the organizers expects over 100 companies to participate in the exhibition.

Special year
And for Arie Veldhuizen, the Netherlands and Vietnam,  2018 is a special year. Veldhuizen is in his fourth (final) year of being the Dutch agricultural counsellor to Holland in Vietnam and Thailand. Besides that, 2018 marks the 45 years of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Netherlands. This will also be celebrated at the HortEX.

“Taiwan Floriculture Exports Association joining HortEx Vietnam 2018 with collective pavilion”

The organizers of HortEx Vietnam, the first International Exhibition and Conference for Horticultural and Floricultural Production and Processing Technology in Vietnam, which is being held from 14-16 March 2018 in Ho Chi Minh City, are pleased to announce the presence of a national pavilion from Taiwan organised by the Taiwan Floriculture Exports Association (TFEA).

The presence of the Taiwan Floriculture Exports Association underlines the potential of the Vietnamese market for Floricultural exporters. During HortEx Vietnam 2018 the Association will host a large number of their members in a collective pavilion.

The Taiwan Floriculture Exports Association is a very active Association with over 50 members. One of the main aims of the Association is to market the Taiwan Flower Industry abroad and therefore the Association attends a number of exhibitions in key markets world-wide.

Additionally the Association is co-ordinating with International economic policies in order to improve the export business as well as other common interests within the Floriculture Industry.

It is estimated that Vietnam consumes approximately 5 billion stems a year.

Flowers play an important role in the Vietnamese (Buddhist) culture. Lunar New Year in February (TET; same date as the Chinese New year), international women’s day (March 8) and various other (religious) celebrations are the basis of domestic flower consumption.

The total area of flower production in Vietnam is some 27 thousand hectares; this is equivalent to that of Spain, which is the 5th largest flower producer in the EU.

Apart from being a large Flower Producer itself the Vietnamese market is also offering great potential to exporters of Flowers and Plants as consumers demand higher quality and wider assortment because of an increasing middle class and higher income per capita.

Currently the exhibition is host to exhibitors from 15 countries including Belgium, China, Ecuador, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Kenya, Malaysia, Netherlands, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, U.S.A. and Vietnam.

In total the organizers expect over 100 companies to participate in the exhibition.

The exhibition is supported by Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Vietnam, Lam Dong Tourism, Trade and Investment Promotion Center (TIPC), Vietnam Fruit & Vegetable Association (VinaFruit) and the Dalat Flower Association.

Horticulture and Floriculture are one of the most promising sectors of the Vietnamese economy and HortEx Vietnam aims to serve all segments of this fast growing and promising industry with a targeted trade show.

Companies who are potentially interested are advised to contact the organisers shortly as available space is limited.
